About Jumpstart Pittsburgh
Jumpstart Pittsburgh puts real estate power in the hands of residents.
A program of the Historic Hill Institute, Jumpstart Pittsburgh is a community-based real estate and economic development training initiative designed to help residents from disinvested communities understand, enter and lead the development process.
The program equips first-time and emerging developers with practical knowledge about property acquisition, financing, development strategy, entrepreneurship, neighborhood revitalization, community wealth building and equitable development. Participants learn how to evaluate opportunities, understand the systems that shape development, build stronger projects and move from ideas to action.
Jumpstart Pittsburgh also integrates digital tools and artificial intelligence into its curriculum, helping participants use emerging technology for research, project planning, market analysis, visualization, communications and business strategy.
At its core, Jumpstart Pittsburgh is about more than real estate. It is about ownership, access, economic mobility and community power—ensuring that residents are not merely watching development happen around them, but are equipped to participate in it, benefit from it and help shape the future of their neighborhoods.
Learn. Build. Own. Lead.
